The Office of Agriculture Communications invites application for a full-time, exempt position. The UMES Extension Program is a component of integrated cooperative extension activities that are coordinated by the 1890 Extension Administrator. UMES is a land grant university in the State of Maryland. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Design, develop and maintain dynamic webpages and database.
- Design and develop print/digital media and support materials.
- Work with directors, administrators, staff and other team members to ensure positive experience by audience/users and stakeholders providing the latest, accurate information.
- Work with SANS departments and centers, as needed. The team is small, so we do tasks as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems.
- Two years-plus experience and/or training.
- Must possess the ability to break down complicated factual and scientific text into user-friendly content.
- Demonstration of being a multi-tasker who can complete assigned tasks independently and, on a deadline, while balancing short- and long-term projects.
- Design experience using Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier and InDesign; and Canva.
- Experience with various communication methods and strategies including developing websites, producing brochures, flyers and newsletters, preparing briefing materials, etc.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Understanding and application of branding.
- Backend HTML editing. Database experience.
- Photo and video shooting and editing skills are a plus.
- Liaison with outside printers on specs to see projects through from start to finish.
- Functions well in collaboration with supervisor in editing to achieve a better work product and willingness to accept feedback.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Logical decision-making and proactive problem- solving using a variety of technology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be organized and detail-oriented with a strong customer service focus.
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently.
- Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
