1-2 year targeted, fast-track programme focused on developing specialist technical expertise

Why the Aspiring Developer Graduate programme?
Stand on the shoulders of the giants who’ve achieved some of the world’s biggest technological breakthroughs as an Aspiring Developer. At Barclays, we know technology is crucial to our success, so we foster a culture where innovation thrives. It’s why we invest as much – if not more – in technology than the world’s leading tech companies. It’s why we’ll invest so much in you if you join our team.

Real responsibility, right away
Our Aspiring Developer Programme will train you to code and develop the software that will help solve complex banking problems and be vital to the way we all live tomorrow. This is an opportunity for people who want to make a real difference in a fast-moving world. You don’t need to know how to code or have a background in technology. Throughout your programme, we’ll give you the tools to:
  • Lay the foundation for a meaningful career in a global technology business
  • Learn how to develop world-first applications for customers and clients
  • Develop the skills to code, whatever your background.

Technology at Barclays
Why build a career in Technology in our global business? Because this is where some of the industry’s biggest innovations were born – and you could create the next. Join us and work alongside industry experts who are behind major leaps in FinTech. You’ll be following our innovative learning programme which includes on-the-job training and valuable hands-on experience.

Come and work side by side with the brains behind our tech. This is more than just learning how to code; you’ll take on real, challenging work from the very start as you design, install, test and maintain new and existing systems. Together, let's continue designing innovative solutions, products and services for our colleagues, clients and customers around the world.

What we are looking for:
To be considered for this programme, you must be motivated, curious and keen to problem solve with a strong degree or expected degree – in any area (without coding as an outcome of your qualification).

Ideally, you would also have: An interest in working in technology with a passion to deliver the next technological breakthrough, and the ability to act as a bridge between the business and technology teams.

Working at Glasgow
Our brand new state-of-the-art campus in Glasgow is somewhere you'll want to work. It's the home of a team of 5,500 colleagues who thrive in an environment that's designed with collaboration and the future of work in mind. The campus is made up of creative spaces and technology with hybrid working opportunities at the heart. The campus is inclusive to all, with a specific focus on neurodiversity through our partnership with Scottish Autism.

As well as offering the perfect space for collaborative working, there's also plenty to get involved in outside of your day job. From live music in the canteen, a rooftop bar that overlooks the Clyde for meeting up with colleagues after hours and even an on-site beekeeping club.
