Role Purpose
The primary purpose of the job is to ensure that survival equipment maintenance and other related tasks are carried out efficiently and to quality in accordance with regulatory and corporate procedures. To do this, the post holder will have advanced and specialised skills to carry out solving problems of a routine nature, providing an appropriate level of competence and experience for a technician.
Whilst maintaining competency on a range of SE equipments you will work to a flexible contract to meet the ever changing demand and could also be detached in UK or Overseas to QinetiQ/Customer sites other than Boscombe Down.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensuring that survival equipment maintenance and other related tasks are carried out efficiently and to quality in accordance with regulatory and corporate procedures
- Ensuring that his/her competency is at the required standard
- Carrying out his/her assigned tasks as directed by the Team Leader/Supervisor and in accordance with the planned schedule of work
- Ensuring that SE equipment paperwork accurately reflects the physical state of the SE equipment at the end of each working day
- Ensuring he/she is familiar with all policies, procedures relevant to tasks being conducted
- Appropriately delivering his/her 1st signature where appropriately delegated
- Compliance with authorised tool control procedures
- Carrying out maintenance of aircrew protective clothing
- Carrying out maintenance of aircrew protective helmets and electrical headsets, oxygen masks & personal survival packs
- Carrying out maintenance of static line parachutes
- Carrying out maintenance of free fall parachute assemblies
- Carrying out maintenance of multi-seat life rafts and emergency packs
- Computer literate and familiarity/training/access with specific aircraft maintenance information systems as required
- Comprehensive understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental regulations applicable to the nature of the work/facility
- Good knowledge and comprehensive understanding of processes, procedures and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasking
- Qualification courses, (as required), on aircraft/equipment type or associated systems
- Good fault identification and isolation skills
- Good team working and communications skills
- Must have a recognised apprenticeship covering survival equipment maintenance procedures, or Service equivalent trade training
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Survival Equipment Maintenance (1789-31) or equivalent
- A recognised training course (or equivalent military training qualification) or 3 years plus experience
- A documented Task completion from the at least 6 months in the last 2 years on SE equip.
