Job description
We are seeking to recruit a Senior Technician in Marine and Terrestrial Geophysics to support research and teaching activities. The role would specifically involve maintenance of geophysical equipment for research projects and for teaching, operation of equipment both offshore (nearshore and coastal environments) and onshore for taught field courses in geoscience and oceanography, participation in data collection for a range of cutting-edge research projects in marine geophysics, and development of equipment where needed.
Applicants will have qualifications and/or experience to a skill level equivalent to a degree in a relevant subject area (electronics, engineering, geology, geophysics, oceanography). Applicants will have a track record of working with electronic equipment and proven experience of fault-finding and repair. They will ideally have experience with maintenance and repair of marine instrumentation and experience conducting marine and terrestrial geophysical surveys. Knowledge and experience of design and manufacture of custom instrumentation, ideally in marine or terrestrial geophysics, would be desirable.
This is a full time, permanent post starting on 1 April or as soon as possible thereafter.
