Aims of Job/Job Purpose
To effectively assist the Technical Manager, curriculum manager and staff in the operations in the Auditorium & The Crossing venue at the Digbeth campus in relation to the operation and maintenance of all equipment, curriculum support, internal & external event support, administration and housekeeping in a professional manner that results in a high level of service to both college staff and students.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Curriculum – Technician:
- Support of FE/HE curriculum activities in the Auditorium
- General technical support for Music/Media curriculum (when required)
- Supporting teaching staff on day-to-day Auditorium preparation and support
- Work with tutors to support students with their learning
- Maintenance of the Auditorium resources working with the Technical Manager on repairs and repair schedules
- Maintenance and programming of concert/event lighting installations, control platforms, AV and projection systems
- Monitor and maintain Health and Safety standards of the space, activities and projects Produce/create H&S information for events ie risk assessments, method statements etc.
- Effectively manage and control archiving inventory for equipment
- Developing and creating designs and plans for curriculum innovation (T-Levels)
- Developing new production ideas
- Looking at needs and requirements for the auditorium for future investment
- Identify updates of equipment (software, firmware and physical upgrades)
- Attend and contribute to the section meetings
- Assist with the Student Crew by supporting crew calls, liaising with teaching staff on course work status, welfare of students, defining roles and offering support to students
- Assist with work experience by identifying work experience opportunities for students, support curriculum staff with the reporting of work experience, support students with work experience Support extra-curricular activities and marketing opportunities
Internal Events:
- General technical support of internal college events in the Auditorium
- Support for internal college events across other campuses (mainly sound & lighting when required)
- Liaising with the Technical Manager, college management and working groups for larger scale events
- Monitor and maintain Health and Safety standards for internal college activities and projects
- Liaise with staff within other areas to support their needs on given projects such as logistics, planning, and equipment requirements
External Events
- General production support for external events in The Crossing venue
Other Duties and Responsibilities
a) Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College’s strategic aims.
b) Comply with college policies and procedures and health and safety regulations.
c) Support the safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare.
d) Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and to comply with Data Protection Legislation.
e) Participate in the College’s Appraisal scheme and undertake any training as required.
f) Support and actively participate in the implementation of the College’s Equal Opportunity policies.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £17,792.98-£40,010.83 per year
