Moorfield Eye Hospital has been reinventing ways to see patients within communities. Brentcross Diagnostic hub was a pinnacle for patient recovery after COVID-19 and has been applauded, for its great work within the community. The hub is based within in a commercial unit, within Brent cross shopping center. Most recently we have secured a further lease within the Center and would love the opportunity for an innovative, creative and confident Ophthalmic technician to join our team. You do not have to currently be working at Band 6 but it is essential that you have experience in ophthalmic services, particularly Glaucoma, Medical Retina and Cataract clinic. You must have the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment based on the uniqueness of our location. Be willing to think out the box and have a visionary management style. The Post holder, after the necessary training and induction, will be an integral member of the ophthalmic technical service, ensuring the effective and efficient maintenance of a comprehensive patient pathway. You should have the ability to work independently as well as working closely with other members of the team. You will be a key member of staff within the diagnostic patient pathway and acquire skills working within the glaucoma, medical retina and cataract service. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes the dignity and human rights of patients and clients.
Full training will be provided and you will acquire various diagnostic skills through a comprehensive competency programme. You will be supervised by senior Ophthalmic technicians who will be able to assist with any learning requirements.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
This post will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
During the probationary period, your suitability for continued employment will be assessed and provided a satisfactory standard is achieved and maintained, your employment will be confirmed. The probationary period may be extended or your employment terminated either during or at the end of probation, in line with the trust Probationary Policy. For the duration of the probation period, the notice period will be in line with contractual obligations on either side.

As part of this role, you will support the Operational Lead to ensure the Diagnostic hub meets its quality, activity, and financial targets. You will manage the workload of the dispensary and supervise staff on a day to day basis, organising cover for any unexpected staff absences to ensure a safe, effective and timely service in accordance with current legislation and guidance. You will also hold HR management responsibilities.
