The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field 3 days a week and telecommute remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.

About our Assistance Programs:
The dedicated staff at Denver Human Services (DHS) are here to listen and advise, helping people apply for public assistance programs. We can provide information about food assistance and financial assistance, as well as help for veterans and those who need long term care. DHS provides a range of other services, including help with transitional housing, medical assistance, and heating costs.
The Eligibility Tech 1 position is an introductory level position which determinations eligibility for public assistance programs while receiving training in the applicable federal and state laws and county rules and regulations of financial eligibility. You will develop the knowledge and skills to interpret rules, policy and current practices, effectively interviewing clients, gather relevant information from available system resources and enter applicable information into a complex computer system.
The selected candidates must possess the following skills:
- Demonstrate ability to work in a high-pressure environment with short deadlines
- Is committed to providing exceptional customer service and possesses a background of performing community service or a work history in working face-to face or over-the-phone with individuals from various multi-cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Is an effective communicator; displays excellent interpersonal skills, quickly grasps new concepts and can disseminate information accurately and quickly to Social Services applicants and recipients.
- Has well-developed work habits and exceptional skills using computers and the Microsoft suite of products (Teams, Excel, Word etc.
- Experience crafting professional written communication both internal with colleagues as well as externally with clients
- Experience entering and managing accurate high-volume data in real time
About You
Our ideal candidate has:
- The ability to work in a hybrid environment, at least three days a week in-person at the office
- Ability to be decerning and empathetic in supporting a cliental from diverse backgrounds
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to learn and evolve your related professional skillsets through ongoing trainings
- Proven ability to be agile in a fast-paced working environment

- Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience performing specialized/technical office support work
- Education & Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
