We are hiring a Technical Writer with a strong background in Hardware User Manual Design to join the Schneider Electric Prosumer NAM Hub Team. Our preference is that candidates live within a commutable distance to our Richmond, BC, Canada office, but we are open to fully remote work for the right individual living in the U.S. or Canada.
What will you do?
- Support document design throughout the process from draft outline to final production release
- Within a collaborative technical communications team, proactively and independently prepare, edit, test, and publish documents in Madcap Flare including user manuals, quick start guides, application notes, and online help material
- Illustrate documents through creation of line drawings
- Collaborate directly with engineers and stakeholders throughout the entire design process
- Estimate personal timelines to provide feedback for project scheduling
Qualifications:
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in English, Technical Communications, Engineering, or a related discipline. 3+ years of experience in relevant industry in technical writing
- Full professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal communication. Ability to write in a suitable clear and concise manner
- Exceptional written presentation in creation of technical documentation for hardware products and software tools using Madcap Flare, Adobe Illustrator, HTML, and CSS, while leveraging single-sourcing and content reuse
- Experience editing detailed technical documents to meet established standards, style, and brand guidelines
- Familiarity creating technical illustrations using Adobe Illustrator and CAD output
- Strong collaborator with ability to engage a variety of stakeholders, SMEs, and other technical writers
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in parallel, with changing priorities
