Requirements:
  • Accountable for writing and producing the business and technical copy for an organization’s publications or online
  • Prepares and maintains operational documentation, user guides, manuals and technical publications
  • Produces and/or edits the major portion of a complex documentation set (i.e., reference guides, online help, user guides, job aids) that complies with communication plan requirements
  • Responds to editorial and reviewer feedback as many times as necessary to meet stakeholder requirements
  • Works effectively with program management, Change Management, product marketing, and other internal employees as needed
  • Responsible for the development and integration of communication messaging and deliverables for products including both business and technical documents (SOP, internal technical processes, Job aids, business policy documents, Client and Employee messaging etc.) as identified in the communication plan(s) and ad-hoc communication requests
  • Manage the creation and coordination of content, execution and maintenance of various communication vehicles for stakeholder consumption and use
  • Collaborate with Change Lead, Project Managers, Product teams, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assess stakeholder impact and develop a communication plan which ensures alignment to business objectives, milestones and stakeholder needs
  • Responsible for the usability and perfection of the text and the timely completion of each communication piece in project/assignment/communication
  • Ensure requirements and functionality are coordinated into final documents according to client expectations
  • Provide support for each phase of document creation for employees and clients
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content and methods of reproduction and binding
  • Provide recommendations to client on ways to improve technical documents based on evaluations
  • Oversee audit of existing documentation in accordance with internal audit requirements or as a result of organizational, infrastructure or product changes
  • Train others on internal knowledge-sharing processes to ensure delivery of requested information at the right time. Develop new processes as needed
  • Train others on the business's current technology and infrastructure and keep current on knowledge sharing methods, tools and techniques
  • Provide feedback and instruct others in writing styles
Technical Writer – Mandatory Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, Journalism, Business or related field
  • 10+ years technical/business writing experience
  • Experience with field rollout of a large I.T. or business process change / migration
  • Knowledgeable on all aspects of all phases of the communication and documentation process and the services to deliver final products
  • Project management skills with expert time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Understanding of change management to document the “from-to” for products and services
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in a cross-functional project team
  • Expert editing and reviewing skills to ensure final product meets client expectations
  • Expert writing skills that clarify and communicate instructions or procedures
Technical Writer - Nice to Have Skills
  • Certification in Technical or Business Writing
  • Knowledge of the financial/banking sector terminology would be an asset
  • Knowledge of communication and dissemination techniques and methods - would be an asset
