Blackline Safety is hiring a Technical Writer – someone who has mastery of technical writing, experience in understanding the differing needs of multiple audiences, and the ability to adapt their writing and content accordingly. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, enjoys working closely with other team members, and has the desire to tackle everything from writing and updating release notes to building out hardware and software manuals from scratch.
The successful candidate will be joining a collaborative cross-functional Communications team whose goal is to deliver the highest quality written materials for our customers. Skills/Qualifications/Education:
- A diploma or degree in related field (technical writing, information design, English, communications, etc.) or directly related experience.
Minimum 2 to 5 years' experience as a Technical Writer.
- Experience writing and editing content for different audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Great critical thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to communicate complex ideas in clear, concise ways.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Experience working at a medium to large-sized business and with cross-functional teams.
- Must be eligibility to work in Canada. Our team works business hours in the Mountain time zone.
- An opinion on the Oxford comma!
Responsibilities:
- Gather information from cross-functional teams including Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering, UX, and Quality Assurance to write, edit, update, and publish Technical User Manuals, Getting Started Guides, articles, notifications, and reference materials.
- Work with technical teams to write, edit, update, and publish product release notes and incident summaries.
- Work with subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate and relevant.
- Synthesize multiple inputs and feedback from stakeholders into concise, cohesive content.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Style Guide, Glossary, and templates.
- Contribute to the development of processes and best practices for content lifecycle management.
- Ensure that all content is technically aligned and has a consistent voice.
