An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to work within Post and Undergraduate Medical Education (PGME) school.

The PGME provides a stimulating and supportive learning environment for post and undergraduate medical students. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors of Medical Education / Operational Managers, Royal Collage Tutors, Training programme Directors (TPDs), Medical sponsors and the PGME staff.

This role has responsibilities for a wide range of Medical and Simulation programmes along with hands on preparation of medical courses situated in the technical skill lab/ PGME and simulation centre.

You will need to be extremely confident, organised, and able to multitask along with strong computer skills. There are periods of extreme pressure and lone working which include manual handling/ cadaveric work/ live animal tissue preparation and virtual reality filming/editing.

As the successful post-holder, you will:
Have a strong background or relevant experience of the sector - NHS/ medical /education and or technical skills laboratory (TSL) work.

Provide specialist support to facilitate and enhance the PGME’s portfolio of medical education programmes.

Provide specialist knowledge across a range of Medical /Dental education programmes and support hands on teaching programmes that utilise cadaveric and animal tissue, for teaching medical trainees.

There may be occasions of unsociable hours and weekends required

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

The following skills and experience will be required and are essential for the successful candidates:

• Support all aspects of the Technical Skills Laboratory (TSL) to include facilities maintenance, equipment provision, and Health & Safety compliance.
• In liaison with the Technical Support Manager, support the project management of all TSL programmes of learning to include Medical, Dental and Surgical training courses
• Communicate with dental, medical and surgical clinicians, both internally and externally to the Trust, to gain a clear understanding of the course requirements and, in liaison with the Technical Skills Manager, how to facilitate these.
• Work with the Technical Skills Manager to monitor all TSL users to ensure all equipment is used in a safe and correct manner and that all written instructions or required safety precautions are complied with.
• In conjunction with the Technical Skills Manager, promote and develop the use of the TSL and represent its interests.
• Raise and monitor any “New Works” and routine maintenance requests to maintain and improve the fabric of the TSL.
