Job description

Our client is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join their Positioning Department in Great Yarmouth as a Technical Support Surveyor. This exciting opportunity involves providing technical support to the survey field crews working on their fleet of offshore survey vessels, as well as assisting in the installation and maintenance of survey equipment.

As a Technical Support Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare, test, and pack equipment before dispatching it to vessels.
  • Install equipment on vessels and integrate it with other systems.
  • Document system installations and prepare visit reports.
  • Provide remote support to vessels, addressing technical issues, potentially out-of-hours and on weekends.
  • Manage asset movement and prepare shipping documents.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers for equipment service, calibration, and repair.
  • Review project requirements to ensure vessel equipment meets specifications.
  • Stay updated on industry news, publications, and social media to identify new developments and technologies.

To be considered for this Technical Support Surveyor role, you will need the following:

  • Three years of offshore experience as a senior surveyor/navigator/hydrographer.
  • Degree or equivalent in Hydrographic Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Excellent technical knowledge in at least two of the following areas: GNSS systems, Acoustic Positioning Systems, Attitude and Heading Reference systems, Marine Electronics.

In return, our client are offering the following to the successful Technical Support Surveyor:

  • £35,000 - £45,000
  • 22 days holiday plus all bank holidays
