Job description
The role will manage technical data to support officers including assessing environmental incidents, understanding information requests made by the public & companies, records management, debt management and low risk compliance activities
You can expect to:
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the departmental business plan, providing professional / technical expertise to support operational priorities in line with legislation and Environment Agency policy.
- Assist the Regulated Industry Team Leaders with the production of monthly statistics.
- Identify and produce required documentation and reports to agreed quality standards to support operational work, management decisions, public enquiries, court appeals etc, so that information and Environment Agency interests are accurately and effectively presented.
- Provide accurate and timely support for operational and/ or regulatory decisions, by carrying out routine interpretation of data and, where required, preparing basic reports. In some cases, providing a first level regulatory responses on behalf of the team.
- Operate and maintain data and information systems effectively. Ensure records are stored accurately and readily accessible to facilitate team activities.
- Support health, safety & wellbeing best practice by promoting awareness and following safe working practices that comply with Environment Agency policies and standards.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- Experience of managing, handling, storage of confidential information
- Maintaining excel spreadsheets and able to use standard IT packages efficiently to deliver work and able to learn specialised systems as required.
- Good level of literacy and numeracy required.
- Great communication skills to be able to speak to the public and within Environment Agency teams. Building relationships based on understanding customers’ needs and providing the service required.
- Attention to detail. Data we provide externally is under a great deal of scrutiny, so we need to make our responses of the highest standard.
- An analytical mind to work through problems and review technical data
The role will require frequent travel across the West Midlands Area. As a result the post requires a full UK driving licence.
