The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who will be responsible for managing concurrent data digitisation projects – up to 10 workstreams in parallel – ensuring that they are delivered according to commitment to the Public Sector Programme owning organisation. You will manage all risks and issues that arise during the projects, spotting the interdependencies and communicating any problems or changes with the end clients. You will have the right character to build confidence within the internal and external teams, taking on a leadership role within the project area. This is not an agile software development project – you will not be managing scrum teams. This is a waterfall style project delivery with PRINCE2 style governance.
This is an exciting chance to work for a fast growth technology and data business that operates in the Geospatial data space – one of the key drivers for UK tech growth over the next 5 to 10 years. Career growth for this role will be into a Programme Manager / Director role.
The scope of this role will include::
- Managing the tasks of the project team during the full development cycle through requirements gathering, analysis of requirements, design, build, testing and deployment.
- Promoting and follow good project management practice, implementing appropriate methodologies when required, covering planning, reporting, risks and issues management, contingency planning as appropriate and all project communication.
- Agreeing realistic timescales and delivery dates with the project sponsors at Programme and Local Authority level and to manage scope and schedule.
- Liaising with other Landmark Group departments / staff in a technical and a commercial capacity as appropriate.
- Assisting with account management of clients, both internally and externally with respect to the project and ensure that all parties are kept fully informed of progress.
- Liaising with external organisations and consultants with whom a business relationship has been developed for projects, including negotiations with external clients, data suppliers, etc. as appropriate.
- Motivating the project team, ensuring that work is completed in a timely and professional manner, to expected quality standards.
- Overseeing the distribution of work among the project team members.
- Promoting a positive work ethic, encouraging team members to work beyond their own spheres of expertise when and where necessary.
- Obtaining sign off from client / project sponsor or other appropriate parties at key milestones.
About You
Ideally, you’ll have 5+ years of experience delivering multiple parallel projects within a programme, facing off to multiple stakeholders. It would be great if you’ve delivered these projects into the public sector so that you have an understanding of the level of process and governance required.
You’ll have experience in:
- Managing several parallel projects within a large programme of work
- Planning, allocating and managing development work for both yourself and your team
- Managing the quality of the delivery for both the project team and your own deliverables
- Resolving core Project Management issues within your direct sphere of influence
- Providing mentoring and guidance to junior and less experienced project team members
