We’re the largest financial institution based on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, and we’ve got an exciting opportunity to share on our IT Solutions team. We are looking for an IT Project Manager to join the team who is skilled in the planning, execution and delivery of projects, both on time and on budget, and who is committed to managing positive stakeholder relations. Ideally, the candidate will also have direct experience in either a credit union or banking environment. If this role aligns with education and experience, then would we would love to hear from you!

What’s the role?

As IT Project Manager, you are responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This individual will also be responsible for acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan and supporting the effective and efficient delivery of business solutions.


In this role, you will also be responsible to:

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and sponsors for IT related projects
  • Develop and maintain IT project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, developing contingency plans as necessary
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, in accordance with project requirements and budget
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, and project team members
  • Communicate project status, progress, and challenges to stakeholders and project team members in a clear and concise manner
  • Identify and manage changes in project scope, schedule, or budget, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and best practices
  • Conduct project evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and to inform future projects
  • Lead the measurement of project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Oversee stakeholder management and communication for each initiative being managed
  • Responsible to report and escalate to management as appropriate
  • Support the development and delivery of communication tactics to support the success of various corporate initiatives
  • Facilitate the completion of post-project reviews, delivering key insights and lessons learned to project leads, subject matter experts, and sponsors
  • Monitor for new and emerging project management tools to support the delivery of projects and Coastal Community

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma requiring 3-4 years of full-time study or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A PMP (Project Management Professional) credential designation and/or equivalent combination of experience and education such as a project management graduate certificate is preferred.

Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:

  • Minimum of 3 years of project/portfolio management experience.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technology project management and reporting role
  • Proven experience in a scrum master role or leading other Agile frameworks.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communications skills.
  • Experience in a financial institution is an asset.
  • Experience working within IT specific projects considered.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the implementation of projects.
  • Strong probable-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience working with system development lifecycles, project management best practices, and methodologies, such as Waterfall, Agile and Scrum.
  • Knowledge of project management software and tools (e.g. Microsoft Project).
