Are you looking for the opportunity to make your mark in a special digital role that is at the heart of LNER's digital strategy?

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join us. This is a pivotal opportunity at LNER to own, maintain, develop and enhance a market-leading, fully accredited central booking engine for LNER as the heart of our multi-million-pound direct retail estate.

In this role you will be tasked with building and delivering a compelling product roadmap and vision for LNER's Central Booking Engine and related products including journey planning and admin interfaces. Maintaining a scalable, reliable and secure system to delight our customers, address their points and deliver added value, this role needs a customer focused and innovative person.

Joining the Product Manager cohort in the fast-paced and ambitious Digital team and with strong internal links across the organisation, you will use your excellent communication skills to build and maintain strong relationships across the business and manage key suppliers

What else will you be involved in?

  • Taking the lead as proposition owner and product owner for new digital projects or initiatives relating to our retail technology, assessing viability, building compelling business cases, helping to deliver proofs of concept, prototypes, MVPs and fully productionised systems
  • Ensuring products meet the architectural requirements stipulated by wider LNER teams
  • Acting as the digital buddy for non-digital stakeholders' projects relating to these products, helping proposition owners bring their ideas to fruition in a coherent way
  • Owning the relationships with key suppliers relating to customer support, managing budgets and contracts to achieve maximum value and cost efficiency, and carrying out procurement activities as required
  • Working with digital experience, analytics, and customer insight teams to understand customer needs and pain points, and how to address these through LNER digital touchpoints
  • Developing data-driven business cases and propositions, and sell to key stakeholders to achieve signoffs
  • Defining and owning the success metrics for LNER's retail technology and related systems, and continually measure system performance
  • Collaborating with our Customer Experience teams to understand the impact of new features or projects on business processes and LNER's frontline teams

As a pivotal role, you'll already have a number of years experience in managing digital product roadmaps and strategies as well as the ability to navigate a complex ecosystem of suppliers. You will need a depth of technical knowledge as you will specialise in the development of a digital retail eco system that is scalable and future facing. You'll also be..

  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to act on your own initiative
  • Naturally collaborative, comfortable working in a fast-paced digital product environment
  • Excellent communicator, able to build positive, long-lasting relationships with a wide range of stakeholders with effective influencing and negotiating skills
  • Experience of managing multiple digital projects with significant budgets and delivering on time and on budget to the required scope
  • Strong business acumen with sound numeracy, analytical and commercial negotiation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of digital analytics and ability to compile and communicate KPIs effectively
  • Demonstrable skills in the latest e-commerce, web, app and data technologies
  • Understanding or hands-on experience in digital technologies, including B2C e-commerce
  • Project management qualifications would be advantageous
