An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in our Urban Traffic Management Control Team! We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to help support our services that improve the lives of our customers.
The Urban Traffic Management Control team, within Highways, are responsible for the design, operation, and maintenance of all the permanent Traffic Signals, Variable Message Signs and other UTMC assets across Kirklees.
In addition to maintaining the on-street assets, the UTMC team undertake a broad range of duties including: providing information and advice to a wide range of internal and external customers, traffic modelling to asses the impact of proposed developments and supporting colleagues within other highway teams such as highway safety and public realm.
Working under the direction of the Senior and Principal UTMC Engineers, the technical officer will assist with undertaking the duties outlined above and on the context sheet. Prior experience of the UTMC environment is not essential as extensive on the job training will be provided.
The successful applicant should have:
- A willingness to learn,
- The skills and ability to maintain, operate and monitor digital and manual records and management information systems,
- Familiarity with invoices and invoicing procedures,
- The initiative to work on their own with minimal supervision to tight deadlines,
- Good communication skills in all forms of communication,
- A good level of IT knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office,
- A full driving licence as site visits may be required. (This is not essential)
Whilst the team currently operates a hybrid working model which involves a combination of working from home and the office, the emphasis will be on office working during the first year in post. The team is based at Flint Street, Fartown, Huddersfield although this is currently under review.
