Technical Designer
Alison Milne co. is looking for a detail-oriented, independently motivated and enthusiastic Technical Designer (Residential Designer / Architectural Technologist) to join our boutique interior design firm! Settled in the Junction neighbourhood of Toronto, the AMCo. studio + gallery is where art and design work in harmony. We place the utmost importance on maintaining our commitment to timeless aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship, honouring the artist and the maker throughout our entire process.
We collaborate with our clientele to create and build a space that assists with their day to day and tells the visual story of their lives. Using locally sourced products and materials whenever possible, we build with a standard of care and respect for every dwelling, its environment and each other.
As Technical Designer, your responsibilities will include but not limited to the following;
- Drafting of commercial + residential exterior elevations
- Assisting on initial site documentation of interior + exterior residential projects
- Knowledge of building systems and detailing
- Coordinating all permit packaging with the City of Toronto (Municipal and Committee of Adjustment submissions)
- Coordinating engineering drawings (Both mechanical and structural engineering packages)
- Preparing and issuing of project deliverables within the project schedule (Test-fits, Permit, Tender, Construction, etc.)
- Attend internal and client meetings on a weekly basis
- Collaborating directly with the designers to present client material as well as collaborating with the project manager on site.
Experience / Requirements:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Sketch Up, and 3D Modelling.
- Highly knowledgeable in the municipal submission process + permit packaging.
- Proficient Knowledge in the Committee of Adjustment submissions process.
- Ability to work independently + within a team environment.
- High standards of organization, communication and attention to detail.
This position is a one year contract, full time position, scheduled Monday to Friday with flexible hours (ie: 8-4, 9-5). This is a hybrid position ( work from home/in studio and on-site), a legal driver's license is required.
