Where the Role Sits
Data – the Crown Jewels of the bank, key to the Group’s strategy and at the centre of its investment programme.
Within Data & Machine Learning (DML), , we 're shaping the Group’s ambition by enabling the bank to gain value from data by providing safe and efficient Group wide data capabilities and services.
This role will sits within the Data Product Build Programme. This is our extensive transformation programme, we're redefining what a bank is from the inside out. Our technology, our culture, and our mind-set is changing to craft a true engineering-led organisation.
The Technical Business Analyst will enable and craft solutions that move data from source to target and ensure the data is of a high quality.
What will I focus on in this role?
Our Technical Business Data Analysts are involved in helping craft the end-to-end solutions that deliver the data, and how we can do that in a way that is efficient, enables re-use of the data and delivers data that is of a high quality.
You’ll support the data management strategy for the platform, being responsible for the end to end processes around data quality, metadata management, data lineage & data management best practice.
You can expect this role to be varied and exciting as it involves the delivery of data pipelines across all the bank’s myriad of source systems.
We work using modern Agile software engineering practices, including DevOps, Continuous Integration & Continuous Development.
Specific activities might include:
Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to understand the problem and start to consider appropriate data solutions.
Analysing data from key source systems and design suitable data solutions including data models, data flow diagrams, data mappings and scenarios that transform the data from source to target.
Identify generic patterns within the requirements to produce design blueprints that can be re-used by future use cases and/or recognise where existing patterns can be re-used.
Understand the data and requirements at a deep level to ensure the data that is delivered by the end solution conforms to the six Data Quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness, and validity).
Work with platform SME to define integration specification which is aligned with use cases/requirements.
Collaborate with software engineers & other engineering staff to ensure solution is developed according to customer requirements.
Support the end-to-end change process including testing, implementation and reviewing of solutions to ensure functional and data assurance requirements are met.
Support migration of our systems to a cloud platform.
Be a leader, guide and mentor to our in team of data analysts to ensure standards and processed are followed . Embed and manage new ways of working
Support evolution of federated governance and collaborate with other teams to set out standard approach & process

What do we need to see from applicants?

On your CV, we need to see the following to consider you for interview:
You’ll need to be working at a mid to senior level already. This role could suit an experienced Data Analyst who has moved into Solution Design, or a Technical Business Analyst with a passion for data projects, or potentially a Solution Designer focused on data systems.
Familiar with the basics of banking systems, financials/accounts & batch/streaming data services.
Extensive background within data. Familiar with large scale complex data systems including legacy & modern databases.
Experience mentoring & supporting more junior staff around business analysis & data analysis.
We’re fairly technology agnostic as long as you have the relevant background in the points above, however if you have any knowledge of SQL, Hadoop Cloud technologies that would be a big plus for us.
