Job description
Sunderland Council is seeking to recruit a Technical Assistant (Public Rights of Way) to work within the Asset and Network Management Team.
The successful candidate will assist in managing a well-used urban and rural public rights of way and cycle network. The work involves network inspection, designing supervising and/or carrying out works, records keeping, preparation and presentation of reports and evidence.
The post requires a commitment to detail, the ability to read and navigate with maps and excellent written and spoken communication skills. The job is roughly 50/50 office/outdoors and requires the ability to calmly explain legal facts to people in heightened emotional states.
Previous experience of countryside or highway network management work, and a familiarity with highway and countryside access law would be an advantage.
