Job description
We Prepare Ltd are a Chef inspired Sandwich & Salad manufacturing company with a production unit based in Slough. (BRCGs AA accredited). WSH is the parent company for leading brands such as BaxterStorey operating in the catering and hospitality sectors.
We Prepare supports WSH’s teams across all these sectors, and in addition works directly with major clients in the airline, travel, and food service sectors.
Taking Ownership, Accountabilities and Key Responsibilities:
- To complete and document all the routine quality and food safety checks as required according to the documented procedures.
- To complete food safety and quality audits at defined frequencies to ensure the efficacy of the Quality Management System.
- To ensure the site improves food safety and quality standards as assessed by audit.
- To ensure microbiological sampling and reporting is completed to schedule and submitted where directed by line manager.
- To ensure that all quality assurance checks are carried out and recorded in line with the documented procedures.
- To ensure that the site operates in accordance with the HACCP Plan and that CCPs are monitored appropriately.
- To escalate any out of specification results where appropriate, assist in investigation and to verify that corrective actions have been successfully implemented.
- To operate in a health & safety conscious manner, ensuring their own health and safety and that of their work colleagues.
- To work closely with other departments to ensure they understand the quality and food safety requirements and to communicate effectively where those standards are not met.
- To work closely and collaboratively with the manufacturing team.
- To actively work to ensure compliance with BRCGs and customer standards.
- To provide support and information during audits such as BRCGs or customer audits.
- To provide support and information during traceability exercises, crisis management other activities.
- To collect Product and Environmental Microbial samples according with the sampling plan requirements and submission of these samples to the external accredited laboratory.
- To carry out any other task reasonably requested by the Site Director, Technical Manager or as required by the business.
- To manage all raw materials, packaging, and supplier approval documentation.
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, auditors, NPD, production, and operation.
- Control the issuing, amending, checking, and filing away all factory and technical paperwork.
- To train and assist in training all aspects of quality and safety monitoring for all new staff.
- To generate and review specifications of finished products for the company.
- To ensure supplier approval and raw material specification system is effectively managed on-going basis.
- To conduct calibrations, taste panel, internal GMP, Hygiene Audits, Glass, and Hard Plastic, CCP Audits etc.
- To conduct monthly quality meetings, deputise weekly technical meeting and attend HACCP meeting.
Knowledge and Experience
- Undertaking and passing all training required to operate in the role which could include but are not exhaustive: Food Hygiene, Allergen, HACCP, and Pest Awareness.
- Sustaining high performance standards
- Assist/train new team members to perform tasks effectively.
- BRC and Customer standards awareness (desired)
- Level 3 (Advanced) Certificate in Food Safety is desired.
- Level 3 (Advanced) Certificate in HACCP is desired.
- Ideally educated to undergraduate or degree level (Food) (or equivalent) in a science-based subject.
- Experience of or familiar with, quality assurance systems and processes (Desired)
- Good knowledge of food manufacturing.
- Computer literate in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
