Back of House - Hilton London Bankside
Contract: Full Time
Salary: 11.48 per hour
Opened in October 2015, Hilton London Bankside represents the next generation of design-led Hilton Hotels. Each part of the property has been carefully created to reflect the fascinating history and ambiance of the surrounding area, combining the authentic urban grittiness and polished contemporary design.
Set in the heart of Bankside, just steps from some of London's most famous landmarks such as Tate Modern, Borough Market and The Shard, Hilton London Bankside is home to 292 stunning guest rooms including 25 bespoke suites which offer breathtaking views of the city skyline. The hotel also includes one beautiful penthouse apartment which boasts its own private roof terrace, a 100m2 entertainment area and views across the London skyline. In addition, the hotel brings a new neighbourhood eatery, OXBO Bankside to the area, alongside The Distillery, a cool and casual bar.
The hotel also features Bankside's largest and most exquisite Ballroom accommodating up to 700 guests theatre style or 500 in a banquet setting. With a private entrance, a 6-metre high ceiling, dramatic chandeliers, a balcony and sweeping marble staircase leading to the Bankside Ballroom, this is a spectacular venue for any grand celebration, fashion show, awards ceremony or corporate event.
Job Description
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Cleaning and sterilising countertops, kitchen walls, stoves, ovens, grills, and sinks
- Cleaning the entire kitchen once it is closed to ensure it is ready for the next day.
- Maintaining the food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators
- Receiving deliveries and organising them in the kitchen
- Washing dirty dishes like cutlery, pots, cutting boards and pans or loading dishes into the dishwasher
- Removing kitchen waste from waste containers and disposing of them properly
- Cleaning and maintaining cooking equipment like cookers, pots, and food mixers.
- Report any breaches of safety regulations/policies or other safety concerns noticed to the Back of House Manager and the Head Chef.
- To comply with Health and Safety legislation, premises policies and good health and safety working practices in relation to the use of site premises and grounds and own duties and responsibilities.
- Wear (P.P.E.) protective clothing provided, additionally shoes which are suitable for the work being carried out must be worn at all times whilst on site.
- Cleaning and maintaining cooking equipment like cookers, pots, and food mixers.
- required including sweeping, dusting, wall washing, toilet, floor mopping and the use of vacuum cleaners.
- Use electrical and mechanical equipment, floor polishers, scrubbing machine etc when necessary and after appropriate training.
- Use approved cleaning materials in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and COSSH Regulations. (Chemicals should NEVER be mixed with other chemicals)
- To be responsible for the care of all cleaning equipment and materials assigned to them and to request orders as needed via their site Supervisor/Manager.
- To ensure that all cleaning equipment and materials are safely maintained and stored.
- Handover of tasks and keys from supervisor on duty before
- Log details (sickness, spec. requisitions, events)
- Ensure to check cleanliness thoroughly in the whole department according to checklist.
- Ensure all staff members are available, department is operational.
- Check breakage bins & complete breakage record.
- Check completion of dishwasher temperature control sheet
- During several walk-arounds, ensure workplaces are tidy.
- chemicals and consumables are readily available (sanitiser, paper towels, cleaning supplies, bin)
- Operating equpment is organised neatly (PHOTO)
- Cutlery soaking trolleys are filled up and being used.
- Ensure dish wash machine is emptied, cleaned & refilled.
- Ensure sufficient clean & polished equipment is provided to cover current and future (next shifts) operations

Role in our Family
The Back of House Team Member is responsible for the smooth flow of operations between front of house, kitchens and back of house teams including the overall logistics of equipment and stores whilst ensuring all areas are maintained to highest standards of health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
