Job Description

Becoming a crew member at Fair Sun Farm means you will participate in a wide range of work. Harvesting is by far the most time consuming thing we do. Every week we harvest, wash and pack fruit and veg for over 250 CSA members plus a weekend farmers market. Activities will include bunching and boxing vegetables in the fields, harvesting raspberries and strawberries in rows, harvesting peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes from the greenhouses. Cleaning includes spraying bunches, washing greens in our bubbler, and bagging/packing them into bins in our walk-in coolers. It can be loud and wet but is generally a fun time with music and conversation. This jobs requires some lifting and lots of bending and kneeling.

Twice a week we pack shares for our CSA members. We do this in our pack-shed and attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions with accuracy is required.

Other jobs during the week include transplanting seedlings and pruning/maintaining crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Agility, fitness and the ability to work in hot environments are essential.

Full time is 8-5 Monday to Friday and part time is 8-12 Monday to Friday. When it gets really hot we will sometimes start and end earlier.

Requirements

– Successful candidate must have their own transportation to the farm.

– Must be able to work independently and handle repetitive tasks.

– Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.

– Must be able to follow direction and complete tasks with accuracy. Attention to detail is essential.

– Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

– Must be a team player.
