Job description
Directorate: People Services
Hours: 37 hours a week
Contract Type: permanent
Location: Ashtree House; Fostering and permanence team
We are recruiting a Team Manager to manage the Family and Friends fostering team, within the Fostering and Permanence service of Derby City Children's Services.
This is an exciting opportunity to move into a management post or to expand your experience of management. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of social workers and Children’s practitioners in an area of work which is quickly developing on the back of government legislation and a drive to improve the offer available to Kinship carers.
The successful applicant will have good inter-personal skills and the ability to form excellent relationships with colleagues in locality and CIC services and partner agencies as we are committed to multi agency working to safeguard children. A social work qualification is essential and a minimum of five years’ experience of children’s social work is desirable.
You will have substantial experience of social work in a statutory setting and proven ability to offer excellent supervision alongside critical analysis and risk management skills. Experience of PLO and Court work would be desirable. The ability to promote a vision and purpose for the Team within the broader strategic agenda of Early Help and Safeguarding Services is essential. In return you will be offered the opportunity to work in a friendly and stimulating environment fully supported by your peer managers and by senior management who offer regular supervision.
If you feel you meet the above requirements, we would welcome your application.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 4th September 2023. Any applications received after this date will not be accepted.
Interviews are to be held 14th September.
Please be aware that where there are staff within the organisation who are 'at risk' of redundancy, requirements to redeploy to another suitable role will apply and take priority.
As part of our safer recruitment checks the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.
