As part of our future strategy, Royal Mail is creating a network of new and exciting automated Parcel Hubs, the largest of its kind in the Royal Mail network the Midlands Super Hub will become operational in Summer 2023 based in Daventry. These new Hubs will be world-class; providing state-of-the-art automation sortation solutions helping us to ensure we continue to excel at providing a great service to all our customers and the communities we deliver to. We are looking for passionate, motivated and experienced Team managers who are looking for a new challenge to join the Hub leadership team and be part of our future. You will play an instrumental part in the fast pace environment of the new Hub, managing and leading our Hub teams to build trusted relationships and delivering a world class automated operation with the capability to process 40,000 parcels an hour.
We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Team Managers (Production Manager ) to join us at the Midlands Super Hub in Daventry and be a key part of this amazing transformation.
What Does the Role Involve?
The APSS/Hub Team Manager (Production Manager) is responsible for daily work plan clearance to achieve performance and budgetary targets through participation, motivation and cross functional workings and in-flight decision making. It is vital as a Team Manager ( Production Manager ) to create and support the environment in which trust between colleagues both frontline and managerial, underpins our focus to achieve excellence. This role must have the ability to provide systematic and organised approach to day-to-day operation clearance. Furthermore, the role will be responsible for pursuing achievement of safety, quality, financial, customer, automation and employee targets and objectives.
The Team Manager ( Production Manager ) is responsible for first line HR processes e.g. Conduct and Attendance, Engagement, Performance etc., and for measurement and display of key metrics for the work area, and the analysis and continuous improvement of them.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Knowledge of automated environment and parcel site benefits, Flow Room and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
- Knowledge or experience of an automated environment (desirable)
- Automation knowledge, mech performance metrics and the role of engineering in effective automation performance
- Understand commercial challenges facing the business, able to see the big picture to influence others
- Managing teams in a Unionised environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build trust within your team
- Resilience, tenacity and self-starter with excellent written, verbal and presentational communication skills
- Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills
- IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to influence and challenge in a positive style
- Demonstratable qualities in operating in a dynamic team environment, a pro-active and positive individual with the ability to persuade and influence others
- A persuasive leader with drive and a well-developed ability to identify and resolve problems to a high standard through team engagement and building trust
- Able to work under pressure in an automated environment, reacting to operational issues as they occur through team-working and problem solving with others
- Working with and responding to team dynamics to enable trust-building
- Enthusiastic with a passion for helping people grow through targeted coaching and training
- Comfortable working with complex data and have attention to detail
- Able to build effective working relationships with a range of key stakeholders to achieve business objectives

Starting salary -Salary starting at £ £33,432, 10% bonus potential, 25 days annual leave and pension

Additional Information: We are recruiting for 10 Team Manager ( Production Manager ) to join the Midlands Super Hub team early with an initial focus on sorter testing, training and coaching the frontline teams on the new operational processes prior to go-live. Once the Hub goes live in June 2023 these roles will become operational Team Manager ( Production Manager)
