Exemplar is on the lookout for a new Psychological Skills Service Team Manager!

CPFT were chosen as one of the national exemplar pilot sites for the redesign and transformation of primary and community mental health care to develop and deliver a new service paradigm in line with the NHSE community mental health transformation agenda.

The goal of this transformation project is to develop and deliver a new service model that seeks to provide a more seamless pathway of mental health care and eliminate current gaps between services.

Following a successful pilot in Peterborough, and subsequent expansion to Cambridge, the Central team is now being established to complete the roll out countywide.

This exciting opportunity has emerged to become the team manager of the central team, covering Fenland and Huntingdon, and we are looking to recruit a driven individual to help establish and embed the Psychological Skills Service in this area.

This post would be suitable for candidates with a therapy qualification as well as experience of delivering therapy/therapy programmes and who has existing management experience. An additional beneficial asset would be being comfortable with a fast pace of working with developing structures and processes.

The Team Manager will oversee the Central Psychological Skills Service as it expands into the central area covering Huntingdon and Fenland.

You will be working closely with the senior clinical leadership, including the Consultant and Principal Psychologists. As the project aims to bridge gaps between other services you will work closely with the other services around the “gap” i.e. PWS, PCMH, PALT, PDCS and think with those team leaders how we can makes processes smoother and eliminate repetition and delays in the service user journey.

You will lead a team of Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and Support Workers who will be delivering psychoeducational groups and structured short-term interventions to address this gap. The service has developed a range of psychoeducational groups based on current NICE guidelines for treatment of complex trauma, co morbid health and psychological issues, depression, and autism. Additionally, to this structured guided short term individual CBT based interventions are delivered. There will be an opportunity for the post holder to participate in clinical work alongside the operational aspects, dependant on service need.

You will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operational aspects of the service, ensure the clinical governance arrangements are in place and support the day-to-day functioning of the team.

  • To provide operational management and support the clinical leadership across the PSS Central Team.
  • To contribute to, quality improvement and problem solving across the clinical pathways.
  • Ensure clinical governance arrangements are in place to cover all of the clinical activity.
  • Ensure that staff are appropriately skilled and trained to deliver the service and to provide supervision.
  • Ensure satisfactory supervision arrangements are in place for all elements of service delivery.

  • Support and undertake risk formulation and risk management for individual clients and to assist and advise other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment, and risk management in line with Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures, including work with clients deemed as vulnerable adults.
  • Take special responsibility for the assessment of risk in relation to clients accessing the PSS service.
  • Monitor and evaluate the standard of care and take actions to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained.
  • Identify and be responsive to the diverse cultural, social, and spiritual needs of all patients.
  • Work flexibly to ensure cover across all teams. To provide clinical interventions and assessments depending on service need.
