As a Landside Response Higher Officer in our Small Boats Operational team, you’ll be playing a crucial part in the Saving of Lives at Sea operation and identifying vulnerable people who may require medical or welfare support.

Your role
You will be managing a team searching and processing passengers arriving by small boats and providing visibility and presence to the general public and other Operational Response teams
Your team leader work will be mainly based at Dover or Ramsgate. Official vehicles are available at Essex and West Sussex ports for daily or short-notice travel to a variety of ports if necessary (you’ll need a full manual driving licence).
You’ll start with a minimum of 3 weeks of training at our hubs and then you’ll be leading a team and
· Acting as the Officer In Charge (OIC) and managing Critical Incidents
· Supervising the operational response to passenger arrivals
· Monitoring and recording team performance, attendance, e-learning and managing the budget
· Running regular meetings to create a positive environment where everyone feels empowered to make decisions
· Conducting freight searches, detection patrols and ensuring visibility in high-risk locations
· Managing caseworkers and their supporting documentation
· Collaborating with agency stakeholders from the wider operation
