Further information about the University can be found The Role and Department The Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences is a global leader across a range of sport and physical activity domains. We have been named Sports University of the Year by @thetimes and we are proud to be ranked 2nd in the UK, in the Complete University Guide 2023, and 10th (GPA) in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework. We have recently moved to new premises in Durham City, where we enjoy a brand-new suite of offices, flexible meeting and research spaces, and a new exercise physiology laboratory. Applications are invited for a Teaching Fellow in sport and exercise sciences with a particular emphasis on exercise physiology and quantitative research methods. The ability to lead sport and exercise psychology seminars is also desirable, but not essential. Teaching Fellowships offer the opportunity of valuable experience to those early in their academic careers (including PhD students) and the University is keen to maximise the benefit to as many people as possible. The post of Teaching Fellow will involve undergraduate teaching and dissertation supervision as well as academic student support. The Teaching Fellow will receive appropriate mentorship and there may be related scholarship and the opportunity for administrative duties which relate to education and pedagogy. The department has a successful history of actively supporting Teaching Fellows in their career progression and many have progressed to roles within the HE sector. The post is for a fixed term only, and it is not anticipated that the post will be extended beyond this fixed term. Successful applicants will ideally be in post by 1st September 2023.
