Reach Education Ltd are looking for a Teaching Assistant who can work 1-1 with an SEND Pupil based in a Sheffield School.

The Teaching Assistant role is to start ASAP until the end of the Academic year , Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 3.30 pm Term time only.

The Year 9 pupil has very complex needs which can present with challenging behaviour. The pupil has learning disabilities, ASD and suffers with seizures.

The pupil has gone through severe trauma from an early age and is currently a Looked After Child, therefore, we require a strong-minded individual who is resilient and shows compassion and understanding and who has a passion to contributing to supporting this pupil.

This Teaching Assistant role is working 1-1 with a pupil who needs routine and regular support from staff who know and understand them, we require commitment to work 5 days per week in term time.

This position is challenging but extremely rewarding, building a relationship with the pupil, and seeing positive changes whist working with an amazing team of staff.

Working on a long-term assignment allows you to become part of the team and build relationships with staff, pupil, and outside specialists.

Responsibilities


  • The Teaching Assistant will need a positive approach and be able to adapt quickly with any given situation.
  • The applicant will require experience of supporting children or young adults with Social, Emotional Mental Health and Autism.
  • Able to provide a safe, engaging, and caring environment.
  • A proven track record of being able to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques.
  • Team Teach Training would be advantageous - training can be given
  • Be able to maximize the pupil’s quality of life.
  • Liaise with outside teams including Behavioural Specialists and Education Psychologists.

Qualifications
  • Teaching Assistant Qualification preferred but not essential
  • Social Care Qualification preferred but not essential.
  • Experience with SEMH, ASD and Learning Disabilities.
  • Experience of working with challenging behaviour.
