Actual Salary range pro rata: £19,430 - £21,293 per annum

At Samuel Laycock School we are constantly striving to create the best learning opportunities for every pupil. We aim to provide a specialist, high quality, relevant and balanced education for pupils aged 11-16 who have moderate learning difficulties, autistic spectrum condition and severe learning difficulties. We also tailor the learning experiences for individual pupils’ social and emotional development. All children and young people at Samuel Laycock School have an Education Health and Care Plan.
Samuel Laycock is delighted to be part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust (MAT) having joined on 1st April 2022. The Trust is a growing family of schools catering for young people aged 4 to 19 with an EHCP currently in the local authorities of Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale.
The Trustees are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Level 3 Teaching Assistant, supporting the Digital pathway and IT lessons, to join our dynamic, growing and committed staff team
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant experience of supporting young people with special needs and/or a range of learning difficulties within an SEN setting
- Experience of supporting teaching and learning activities for students including the preparation and organisational processes involved in the day to day running of a lesson
- Experience of working in partnership with classroom teachers to differentiate appropriate interventions for students in relation to the curriculum
- Experience of delivering bespoke interventions to individuals or small groups of learners
- Experience of providing cover in the short-term absence of the class teacher
- Experience of monitoring and assessing student progress and engagement; and providing regular feedback to stakeholders.
- Experience of supporting young people to overcome barriers to their personal, social or learning development from a pastoral perspective
- A nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management
- The physical and emotional resilience to support pupils with complex needs, taking a non-judgemental approach and understanding that all behaviour is a form of communication
- Experience of intervening to support students in crisis or trauma by using either emotional or educational support
- The ability to build relationships with students, families and key partners around the students.
- Experience of supervising students over lunch and break times as directed
- The ability to work as part of a team using own initiative when needed
- Willingness to participate in own professional development
This post will be based initially at Samuel Laycock School in Ashton Under Lyne, however, all staff are employed by the MAT and are expected to work at any site within the New Bridge Group if required.

Salary: NJC scale points 12-17: £24,496 – £26,845 per annum (full time equivalent)
Actual Salary range pro rata: £19,430 - £21,293 per annum
SEN allowance: £1,401 per annum
Hours of work: 34 hours per week/ Term Time only + 5 days (195 days)
Based: Initially at Samuel Laycock School, Broadoak Road, Ashton Under Lyne
Commencing: September 2023 or as soon as possible
Status: Permanent
