Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with special needs? Are you experienced in providing one-to-one support to children with autism? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our mainstream primary school in Birmingham City Centre.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support to a child in reception with autism, focusing on their individual needs and personal care.
- Assist the child in their academic, social, and emotional development, helping them to engage with the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
- Create and implement personalised learning strategies to support the child's educational progress and facilitate their inclusion within the classroom environment.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning atmosphere, ensuring the child feels safe, respected, and supported.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to develop and implement appropriate interventions and strategies.
- Record and monitor the child's progress, keeping accurate and up-to-date records of their achievements, challenges, and behavior.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on the child's progress and involving them in the child's educational journey.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with children with autism and providing personal care, ideally in an educational setting.
- A patient and empathetic approach to working with children with special needs, particularly autism.
- Good understanding of autism and strategies to support children with autism in a mainstream school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents/guardians, and external professionals.
- Ability to adapt teaching techniques and learning materials to meet the child's individual needs.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special needs education or autism would be advantageous.

Salary: £85.00-£95.00 per day

- Special education: 1 year (preferred)
