Job description
Broadstones is a DfE registered independent special school. It caters for learners aged 13-16 that find traditional school settings problematic and find learning through vocational activities beneficial.
At Broadstones we specialise in helping those that may have fallen behind or out of education due to social, emotional or mental health issues to catch up and identify a clear path to post 16 education.
Our recent Ofsted report states Broadstones is a GOOD school, where learners “make good progress” and are “happy and feel safe in the school.” “Staff are quick to form excellent relationships and re-build pupils’ self-confidence and self-esteem” and “teachers design work to meet the personal needs and interests of each pupil. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum with both academic and vocational courses.
You may have experience of working with challenging young people or young people with learning difficulties e.g. Autism
We need a competent and confident individual who can support our vocational tutors to assist with activities and to support pupils 13-16 with industry related activities.
You will be required to support tutors helping learners to engage in all classes. Practical experience in areas such as multi sports, basic construction skills , bicycle mechanics, music and Creative Arts would be an advantage.
You will need to be patient, caring and show resilience to work in this area. The position requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
The post is school term time only and the working day is from 8:30 am until 4.00 pm.
Hours could vary on a weekly basis depending on the school requirements. Payment is monthly
