We are seeking to recruit a Teaching and Learning Officer (Taught Programme Enhancement) based in the Teaching & Learning Delivery team.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity responsible for supporting the management and delivery of teaching and learning activities across The University of Manchester. It is an exciting time to help to shape the work of the Taught Programme Enhancement team as part of the Division of Student and Academic Services.
The role would suit applicants specifically with significant experience of quality review and enhancement activity including the development, delivery and implementation of procedures relating to: Quality Frameworks; Programme Approval and Enhancement; Student Feedback (e.g. surveys) and student partnership, External Examining and Collaborative Provision. In addition to experience operationalizing compliance and regulatory matters working with external bodies such as OfS, QAA and CMA.Experience in a Higher Education setting would be an advantage.
Overall key functions of the role are:
- To work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders to monitor and ensure compliance for published programme information and high benchmark standards for quality teaching and learning provision through established processes and data collection/analysis (including but not limited to student survey responses and other feedback metrics, external examiner feedback, collaborative advisor reporting data, TEF, degree outcomes and continuation data), and to identify risks and propose solutions. for the successful delivery of our quality framework function and strategic vision across the institution.
- To oversee implementation and ongoing maintenance of an institutional Teaching & Learning survey framework, including oversight and deployment of key internal and external student surveys.
- To act as first liaison point with Faculties to support the assurance of academic standards and the quality of student experience across the University, and to work with all stakeholders to identify and implement enhancements to Teaching and Learning.
- To represent the area/ provide support to relevant groups/governance committees, manage and oversee the work of staff responsible for operationalising process, guidance, training and systems support for the area.
- Where appropriate, ensure the delivery of system training materials, learning resources, business process design maps, and user acceptance test scripts, and any revisions which may arise as a result of software updates or policy and regulation changes.
- To work with leaders in Professional Services (PS), to embed locally and University-wide a culture of excellent service provision and continuous improvement, placing the student experience at the heart of what we do, with support for a single PS team working flexibly across organisational boundaries.
- To work with senior colleagues in the delivery of Quality Assurance and Programme Enhancement; Taught Policy; Collaborative Policy Frameworks; Project Support and Teaching and Learning Development to enhance the student experience.
- To manage the work of the team in the delivery of the above activity.
The role operates within a culture of continuous change and you will proactively review and develop those activities for which you are responsible.
You will have a proven record in effectively managing a team, knowledge and understanding of current issues relating to quality assurance, with a particular focus on higher education, experience of policy development and implementation and be able to provide evidence of setting and achieving clear objectives and performance goals.
