An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, fully qualified teacher to join the Primary Behaviour Service on the Isle of Wight!

The Primary Behaviour Service is a team of dedicated practitioners with extensive experience of working in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight primary schools to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being. We are a referral-based service offering outreach and inreach support for primary aged children with social, emotional and mental health needs.

In this role you will have the chance to use your skills in a brand-new way, stretching your talents and supporting children that need help the most. Day to day you will advise on behaviour management strategies; model outstanding classroom practice and teach directly, as part of inreach support to schools. You will be liaising with Headteacher and Senior Leader colleagues around strategies to engage children in school. In addition, you will be a key member of the centre-based team who takes on a significant amount of whole school training to build capacity within school settings.

We are looking for a teacher of the highest calibre, with specific experience in primary school education. You should be fully qualified, able to co-operate with other key professionals, willing to travel and ready to engage with parents including those who may not value education. Tenacious, understanding and good with people, you will be a natural diplomat who recognises the challenges faced by all involved and have the skills to facilitate progression.
Your duties will include:

  • Model and advise on strategies for behaviour management.
  • Model good classroom practice taking into account all pupils’ needs.
  • Enable pupils to develop resilience both in and out of school.
  • Help children to successfully manage their own behaviour and empower schools to promote positive behaviour.
  • Work alongside headteachers, SENCO’s and teachers to support the development and creation of intervention plans and reports.
  • Proactively support parents to cooperate with a range of professionals to secure positive outcomes for their child.
  • Maintain appropriate records on work in schools.
  • Plan, design and deliver professional training as negotiated with headteachers and where appropriate SENCO’s.
  • Ensure that health and safety requirements are met.
  • Implement relevant national legislation and locally agreed Hampshire Children’s Services policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities and duties as appropriate to the nature and salary grade for the post.
