Job description
1.0 FTE Permanent
Start date - 1st September 2023
We are a small, community based, school with a long tradition of serving local children and their families. You will join a team of experienced and committed teachers, who work in a very collaborative and supportive way. Our children are delightful, and our community are very supportive of the school and our staff. Working in our unique federation will also give you excellent opportunities to work in a cross-phase setting, expanding your skills by working with children across all age ranges.
We are a federation of three schools, Nenthead Primary School, Alston Primary School and Samuel King’s School.
- We care for children from 4-16 years of age
- Samuel King’s School is the smallest secondary school in England.
- Samuel King’s School and Alston Primary School share a site in the middle of Alston.
- Nenthead Primary School is the highest school in England.
- We offer “Education with Altitude”!
We are also very proud of our academic record. Children at SKS achieve conspicuously well. However, we are also focused on developing the whole child, and pay as much attention to social skills and personal development as we do to academic excellence.
The school was last inspected by Ofsted in July 2022 which confirmed us as a “good school. The inspector verbally described us as “flying forward”. We now believe we have the capacity to be judged “Outstanding” at our next inspection. We are looking to recruit a person who are able to deliver superb teaching and learning and an excellent experience for our children.
It is a Federation policy to offer pay portability to colleagues on UPS elsewhere.
For further details, the application pack is available on the school website.
