About us and the role
For September 2023 we are looking to appoint a Mathematics Teacher to join a highly successful Mathematics Department.
We are seeking a well-qualified and highly motivated Teacher of Mathematics to join our successful, forward thinking, and high achieving department. The successful candidate should be passionate, have exceptional subject knowledge and a drive to deliver engaging and inspiring lessons to our enthusiastic students. The post will require Mathematics to be taught at Key Stage 3, 4 and potentially 5.
The Mathematics department has a strong belief that learning mathematics should be meaningful, and our enrichment programs are designed to provide a wide and rich set of opportunities for students to extend their mathematical learning outside of the classroom while also gaining additional qualifications such as Edexcel Level 2 & 3 Algebra, OCR Additional Maths as well as AQA Further Maths. Through outstanding enrichment programs and exceptional teaching and learning, Avanti House achieves significantly above the national average yearly in mathematics in terms of attainment and progress. The school scored a Progress 8 value of +1.2 with 86% of students achieving at least a Grade 5+ in Maths in 2022. The exceptional outcomes are based upon the continued development of teaching and learning which is at the core of all decisions that the school makes, enabling professional development to be of paramount importance developing all levels of staff.
Since the Sixth form at Avanti House has been established in 2017, we have had an increasing number of students opting to study A Level Maths and Further Maths, leading to a rapid growth in uptake Key Stage 5. As a very popular option at A Level at the school, we have over 160 students and at least 30 of these students studying Further Maths in both Year 12 and 13. This exceptional growth is based on strong pupil and teacher relationships, firm routines and continued development of teaching and learning.

What will you do?
- Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach
- Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
- Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on these, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn
- Establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly
