Job description
Are you looking for work in a vibrant and progressive workplace? If you have the experience and qualifications to join us, we can offer you a genuinely warm welcome and an environment in which both staff and students thrive.
We pride ourselves on doing things differently; we will challenge you to find new ways to approach old favourites, and our teachers find that they develop quickly.
Dates required
We're looking for part-time and full-time teachers who are ready and able to work sooner rather than later.
Location
Teachers will be working at our main school in Bournemouth town centre.
Duties & Responsibilities
You’ll be working in a busy and dynamic language school, which means that you’ll be ready to teach and confident in what you're teaching.
You’ll be responsible for your class, and will use every tool in your locker to challenge and encourage your students to use English at all times.
You'll understand the importance of following our course plans, but you'll be willing and able to supplement the lesson outline with your own material, personality, and knowledge.
You’ll be a friend in the classroom, someone your students have a good rapport and get on well with. You’ll command respect without demanding it, and you’ll be prepared to answer questions accurately and clearly.
Skills & Experience
You’ll have direct and recent experience of education, and be interested in working in an international environment. You’ll be a teacher at heart, passionate about and able to impart your knowledge clearly and memorably.
You’ll be expected to hold, or be working towards, a qualification equivalent to Level 6 on the UK Regulated Qualification Framework - typically a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. You’ll also be expected to have a TEFLI certificate in ELT/TESOL, recognised and accepted by Accreditation UK, our accreditation provider. Typical examples of accepted qualifications are the Cambridge CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, or a PGCE. Other qualifications will be considered and will be measured against accreditation criteria.
If you don’t hold such a qualification, you’ll be able to explain your choices and support your reasons; all applicants able to demonstrate extensive and relevant industry experience will be considered on merit.
Your passion for teaching will be matched by your pastoral care; you’ll be a person that our students will trust and feel comfortable talking to. You can build relationships with people, relying on your warmth, personality, honesty, and integrity.
You understand the fine line between having fun and being responsible; you know when it’s time to relax and when you need to be aware of your responsibilities. You can be a friend to our students, and help them make the most of their time in a foreign country, but you also understand your responsibilities to the school.
