About us and the role
For September 2023, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding Economics Teacher to join our high performing department at Avanti House Secondary School. The position will be suitable for both a newly qualified and a more experienced teacher. The successful applicant will be able to deliver all aspects of Economics at GCSE and A level.
Avanti House Secondary School is one of the top performing schools in the country based on GCSE outcomes and progress and are looking for the applicant to contribute to the further success of our department. In 2022 90% of students achieved grade 5+ and 50% of students gained 7+ in Economics GCSE. This, along with the quality of teaching and learning within our department, is why our Sixth Form has seen rapid growth, with Economics being a popular choice at KS5 with 65% of students gaining the top grades. We look to recruit a teacher that can play an active role in the academic and extra-curricular life of a lively, positive and high achieving school and continue to maintain these high standards by reinforcing our expectations to achieve academic excellence. It would also be desirable if the applicant would be willing to assist in running student led events such as young enterprise or other national competitions to highlight the extraordinary talents of the students who study Economics.
Avanti House is a secondary school 11-19 school that opened in 2012. Currently there are 1232 students with a Sixth Form of 320. Avanti schools are Hindu-designated faith schools. However, all staff members at Avanti House School will not be required to present themselves from any specific faith background and there will be no preference given in this regard. This is an exciting time to join the school as it continues its journey to outstanding.
Avanti House provides an extensive professional development network through the Avanti Institute including an excellent ECT and ECT plus one programme of development - Avanti Institute – Part of the Avanti Schools Trust
