Elysian Animal Assisted Therapy and Learning CIC
Full Time Liss, England 29099 - 35842 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Are you passionate about working with young people?

Do you have a QTS (essential) and experience of teaching cross curricular activities?

Are you passionate about the way in which animals can help us make sense of the world, and help us learn?

(Secondary teaching experience is not essential - a creative and confident approach to teaching across subjects is!)

We are a therapy and learning provision and this is a great opportunity for the right person. We are looking for passionate, nurturing, energetic and motivating people to work with young people with a whole variety of needs.

We have an established Education provision in Shamley Green, Surrey, and a new provision in Liss, Hampshire, with plans to open another provision in West Horsley, Surrey, in 2024. We are recruiting this role for all sites due to expansion.

All roles at Elysian involves ‘rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in’, and this role is no different. You will be involved in all aspects of the day programme along with a multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary team. The challenges lies in finding the niche and individual factors that engage each individual, and supporting them to progress towards their goals and aspirations.

This is a Senior role, with responsibility for co-designing and delivering a bespoke and complex curriculum. You need to be a resistant and tenacious hard working individual, with lots of passion for making it right for children and young people. You may find yourself generally suporting staff on how to ensure learning is incorporated in everything we do at the farm, and/or working 1-1 with a few young people, or with a group. The day and the activities we do are completely varied through every day and week, as these depend on the staff you support, the part of the curriculum you lead on, needs of the individual young people and the activities arranged. The provision has a weekly and daily structured programme based on the young people’s Education and Care plans, and therapeutic goals. Your focus will be overseeing and undertaking education learning and attainment, and ensuring staff are able to follow up and facilitate each young persons learning goals.

You will get up close with a whole range of animals every day, undertaking outside learning, some classroom work and animal care tasks as part of delivering the curriculum and supporting wider learning and development for young people. You will be part of a 'everyone mucks in' team, undertaking farm care tasks and animal care tasks on a daily basis, with children, young people and occasional adults, groups and families.

We offer you a friendly team, an outside work environment, a supportive place to be and work, and future progression opportunities.
