Job description
A proactive and enthusiastic accountant providing support to the group finance team of a FTSE 40 business. The role includes contributing to the preparation of annual report and interim statements. Undertaking Goodwill impairment review process and related discount rate/ WACC rate calculations in line with SOX controls.
Responsibilities:
Internal Reporting
o Timely preparation of monthly management accounts for a selection of group overhead businesses
o Responsible for preparing and posting journal entries
o Intercompany transactions and resolving intercompany mismatches
External Reporting
o Assist with the process for preparation of the ‘Financial Statements’ section of the Rentokil Initial plc annual report and contribute to other areas (strategic report and governance sections) as necessary
o Be a point of contact with the audit team and facilitate an efficient audit of the annual report
o Undertake verification of financial figures and reference these back to supporting workings.
o Perform the same role for half year interim statements Improvements to group reporting and processing
o Review the validation of group finance data to highlight any potential issues as they arise
o Communicating with business units on tangible and intangible fixed asset reporting and reconciliation of these to the annual report.
o SOX control owner/ operator
Technical role
o Lead the discount rate calculations for leases and input into Group’s lease software
o Prepare quarterly WACC calculations
o Support Group Finance team in responses to technical queries from the operating companies
Preparation of statutory accounts for certain Group legal entities.
What you need to succeed:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent finalist/newly qualified accountant with relevant accounting experience
- Experience of working on preparation of annual report and accounts, either as a preparer or an auditor
- Experience of preparing statutory and management accounts
- Strong general IT, spreadsheet and analysis skills
- UK GAAP and IFRS knowledge essential
- Focused on strong internal controls and operating a rigorous daily and monthly reporting process
- Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization
- The role requires someone who is delivery and deadline focused particularly around key deliverable dates.
