Purpose of the job:
Working alongside the Senior Group Accountant and Group Financial Controller to maintain the Group’s Financial and Management Accounts.
Environment/ Context:
This is a newly created role to address significant growth in the scope and workload of the Group Accounts team in recent years.
Accountabilities of the job:
Quarterly/Annual Accounting
- Assisting with preparation of quarterly investor reports
- Assisting with preparation of audited annual accounts
- Addressing year-end and audit queries
- Supporting the preparation of quarterly interim financial statements
- Assisting in the year-end processes, liaising with external auditors and helping to prepare the external audit and reporting timetable
- Consolidating the budget submissions for the whole of INEOS to INEOS Capital and preparing slides for presenting to INEOS Capital
- Inputting approved business budgets into HFM (Hyperion) consolidation system
- Compiling annual business turnover analysis for submission to competition authorities
- Leading the process of annual IAS 19 pension postings, liaising with businesses and actuaries
- Preparing annual accounts for Corporate/Holdco entities and deal with auditors to get them ready for signing
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly group management accounts and commentary
- Monthly accounting for various group holding companies
- Calculate and post monthly IFRS consolidation journals for the IGH and Industries Group
- Monthly reconciliation of HFM results to business management reports
- Managing relationships across a wide range of stakeholders to ensure the Group’s financial and regulatory reporting objectives are met
- Responsibility for the maintenance of a robust control environment by:
- Overseeing the design and operation of controls over reporting processes;
- Reviewing and challenging business submissions; and
- Driving continuous process improvement with respect to quality and efficiency
- Preparation of slide packs for Group CFO
- Preparation of submissions for National Statistics reporting
- Involvement with Group refinancings including assisting with the preparation of an Offering Memorandum
- Various ad-hoc analysis and projects
- Ad-hoc support for the Group Financial Controller and the Senior Group Accountant
Required Profile:
Level of education & experience in general
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Newly qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA)
- 2+ years of experience either in practice, or in industry
- Experience using Hyperion (HFM) accounting system advantageous
Behavioural and Technical skills
- Strong technical skills (IFRS and FRS 101) and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, numeracy and Excel skills
- Highly organised, ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the Group and externally.
- Ability to self-motivate and organise own time effectively
