Group Accountant

This position is to cover a period of maternity and has the potential to go permanent dependent on circumstances.
What you’ll do in your role as Group Accountant
The Group Accountant is a key technical resource within Group Finance. You will be accountable for a range of Group accounting activities, and will be technical lead on a number of key accounting matters.
The role will encompass all internal and external financial reporting requirements of the consolidated A-Gas Group and will support the activities of subsidiary-level finance teams and external stakeholders by providing value-adding information and advice. You will oversee the preparation of financial records and provide effective management of all day to day financial aspects of the A-Gas holding companies.
This is a varied role that will require the balance of technical knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills to make sound decisions and offer informed advice. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of key group accounting initiatives and your advanced communication skills will empower and motivate the team
Production of the monthly Group management accounts and related reports, to provide financial information to the Board and other stakeholders.- Oversight of the monthly Holding Companies management accounts and related reports including monthly business commentary.
- Liaise with external auditors and manage the Group and Holding Company audit process to deliver audited financial statements, to comply with our statutory obligations.
- Maintain comprehensive capital expenditure reporting across the group.
- Assist treasury management and the production of cash-flow forecasts for the Group to ensure compliance with bank covenants.
- Keep up to date with the latest accounting standards and guidance and implement changes, as required, to ensure financial practices are in line with current standards and legislation.
- Support continuous improvement through identifying and suggesting changes. Being proactive in implementing agreed changes so that processes are efficient and ensure excellent service delivery.
- Assist the Group Finance team in any ad hoc projects as required to support improvement of the department in line with business requirements.
- Work with other A-Gas territories to ensure the delivery of Group business objectives and projects.

Who you are
Essential
Qualified accountant with either the CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualifications- Experience with multi-currency consolidations
- Technical knowledge of IFRS
- Excellent software skills in Excel and other accounting software.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a medium or large multinational
- Knowledge of monthly management accounts and accounts payable processes.
- Experience of working with private equity investors.
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution
