Tamar Valley AONB Development Officer

Tamar Valley AONB Development Officer Gunnislake, England

Cornwall Council
Full Time Gunnislake, England 32806 - 39778 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

These are interesting and exciting times for the UK's protected landscapes. They have a vital role to play in the response to the ecological and climate challenges we all face, and to the widening recognition of the crucial well-being benefits that access to nature and green space can bring. They are also at the forefront of opportunities to bring greater investment into the nature-based services upon which we all rely, and to realise the economic benefits of sustainable tourism. The recent Landscapes Review made a series of recommendations, now being implemented, which will bring new purpose, powers and resources to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along with a proposed new 'brand' as National Landscapes.

Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is looking for a Development Officer to lead on the development and implementation of its funding strategy, and on the review, development and production of the next 5-Year Management Plan. The role will also further develop the opportunities for our unique Tamar Valley Centre, a community asset and 'eco-building' in Gunnislake.

We're looking for someone who is able to work at strategic and practical levels, and is confident and dynamic in their approach to working with a wide range of partners and stakeholders. A close interest in environmental and landscape management will help, along with an interest or experience in funding, finance, and/or project management.

The role will contribute significantly to the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, and Devon's Local Nature Partnerships, to Cornwall Council’s Priority Outcomes and Environmental Growth agendas, and the equivalents of our other local authority partners. AONBs have an important role to play in delivering the Government’s 25-Year Environment Plan, 2050 carbon neutral and 2030 nature recovery ambitions, as well as the Sustainable Farming Initiative and Agri-Environment Transition.

This position will be subject to a criminal record disclosure check.
