This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented individual to join the Global Functions HR team as Talent & Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Lead. Reporting to the Global Head of Talent & DEI this is an important global role responsible for the implementation of key projects to deliver our talent and DEI agendas in support of the 26,000 people who make up our Global Functions organisation.

Due to the global reach of this role, it will ideally be based in the UK. Flexible working is available, travel (up to 20%) may be required.

Responsibilities:

This role provides you with a fantastic opportunity to deliver key activities designed to create an environment in which all our people can thrive. Leveraging your talent management and DEI expertise you will collaborate with the HR Business Leads for each of the global functions, as well as other key business and HR stakeholders, to bring best in class talent, diversity, equity, and inclusion plans and initiatives to life to help us meet our goal of building a high performing, diverse organisation in which everyone can thrive.

Talent:

  • Partner with HRBLs in developing and implementing a talent plan for each global function that improves bench strength for key roles and provides sustainable, diverse talent pipelines.
    • Using KPIs support each HRBL to have a clear plan on how to move their talent plan forward. Provide a simple and standardized approached for each business to review their KPIs, offer clear development opportunities and interventions that each HRBL can share with their business to move readiness of talent and strengthen our overall pipeline.
    • Identify the talent priorities for each function to create an end to end plan, based on a deep understanding of the business priorities, quality and diversity of the internal talent supply at the top levels of the function and gaps in succession, building a robust talent pipeline through recruitment, development and internal moves.
    • Where appropriate work with the HRBL and the recruitment team to identify best ways to fill gaps that can not be filled internally.
    • Where applicable if functions have embedded talent/capability leads partner with those leads to create a joined up plan, encompassing all aspects of development, recruitment and management, including early talent programmes to drive focus on building critical future capabilities.
    • In addition to the KPIs related to our grade 0-3 roles, provide oversight and insights into how each business area can strengthen their pipelines at the grade 4-6, pulling on development opportunities, chess moves and robust development plans.
    • This role will be measured by the quality of the succession and retention of key talent which is part of the HRBL objectives. It is the talent leads role to prompt and coach the HRBL to sign post what to focus on, provide analytical insights and focus on the right solutions to achieve their objectives.
    • Depending on the size of the function, the talent population that lead will focus on may be different.
  • Bring the outside in, leveraging external insight and best practice alongside GSK global talent practices to identify talent opportunities across our Global functions. Understanding that each global function ( Finance, Legal Digital & Technology, Communication etc )will have different talent challenges and opportunities.
  • As part of the enterprise team, pull down on enterprise wide talent approaches and interventions to support your business areas, ensuring high quality implementation of global talent processes.
  • Support HRBLs to identify key strategic capabilities and devise talent plans to meet future workforce needs.
  • Monitor the delivery of key talent KPIs and ensure business leaders demonstrate accountability for development and delivery of key plans in their areas
  • Lead the preparation for talent reviews conducted with both the functional leadership teams and ultimately the CEO

DEI:

  • Develop and implement a Global functions DEI plan that will build capability and deliver strong ownership from the business, working with the HRBLs, recruitment teams, business leaders and ERGs (employee resource groups) to bring a holistic plan together from design through to implementation.
  • Monitor DEI KPIs and ensure Business Leaders and HRBLs are focusing on the key levers to increase representation of underrepresented communities and create an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, welcome, valued and included.
  • Build internal DEI capability and provide subject matter expertise on all aspects of DEI to the HRBL GF group.

Basic qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources and/or Business/Management.
  • Be experienced in delivering talent and DEI strategies for global businesses, translating them into simple and actionable plans with measurable impact.
  • Have strong expertise in Talent and DEI with a solid understanding of the solutions that a business will need to leverage attract, recruit, develop and retain a diverse workforce and build an inclusive culture – ideally in a global organization. Pharmaceutical or other regulated industry experiences is a plus.
  • Be an influencer, experienced in defining and delivering focused and impactful plans in a large, complex, matrix organisation which is culturally and geographically diverse with multiple stakeholders in HR and the business.
  • Have ability to quickly build trust and rapport with stakeholders, and all involved parties to manage risk and reach appropriate resolution/outcome.
  • Have demonstrable continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong decision making based upon sound flexible thinking and calculated risk.
  • Be fluent in English. Other languages are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in global functions.
  • Strategic workforce planning.
  • Experience in data analytics.
  • Experience of leading large scale projects and complex transformational change.
  • Willingness to travel if needed.
