About the role:
As an IS Systems Manager you will report in to IS Operations Manager. A critical part of this role is demonstrating to the Head of Information services and the IS Operations Manager how new emerging technologies would benefit the business.
The role is hybrid with the expectation to travel across the network when needed to fulfil business requirements, there will also be an on-call roster that you will be on as part of this role.

Key responsibilities:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:
- Leads the performance optimization of server and systems architecture, raising the level of server and systems uptime to six sigma standards.
- Provides patch management for all enterprise systems and services, including operating system and application patching.
- Designs and implements disaster recovery processes and procedures
- Oversees and coordinates the remediation of vulnerabilities across the IS infrastructure and applications
- Accountable for the security and integrity of Northern Rail's server and systems architecture
- Monitor the performance of suppliers of enterprise systems, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements, conducting regular service review meeting as required
About you:
You will have strong communication skills both in written and verbal, capable of communicating with all levels of the organisation.
We’re also looking for the following:
- Formally educated to degree level in computing and management
- Experience in a similar role/environment
- Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) server support models, typical back up and server build processes.
- Previously has implemented performance monitoring systems. Knowledge of various cloud computing solutions
- Accountable for the security and integrity of Northern Rail's server and systems architecture
