KBR has developed and implemented an innovative, cost effective solution for the strategic management of estates and facilities services. The Estates Integrator model is an integrated approach for the strategic management of estates and facilities services which is an evolving model in the FM market. As part of the ongoing growth of its Estates Integrator, KBR is actively recruiting to expand its team to deliver current and future public sector Estates Integrator contracts.
Your Role
We have an exciting new senior technical role for which we are seeking an experienced IT managerial professional to join our established and high-performing team as a Systems Manager in our Projects & Programmes Division (Government Solutions).
The successful candidate would manage the five key technical practices that develop, deliver and support the large ‘Estates Intelligence’ integrated software platforms deployed to our UK Public Sector client base, solutions used by our clients, our client’s suppliers and KBR business users. They will take ownership of the IT organisational structure and be responsible for evolving its operation (by establishing supportive internal delivery and management governance and processes) and scaling it to ensure plans and programmes can be delivered, either by restricting with additional perm source or short-term scaling with contract resource.
This is a role that will report directly to Account Directors responsible for the two largest client platforms, and work closely with these individuals to ensure clients’ short/medium range change needs are met by the technical teams/our solutions; the role will have daily line management oversight for the technical Management Team responsible for the five main practices that constitute the IT team (System Support, CAFM & Mobile Software; Data & Integration; Delivery; Functional Design/Test) and be responsible for setting objectives and supporting the development of these individuals and their teams.
The role will require development of close working managerial relationships internally and externally, notably requiring detailed work with Programme/Portfolio Lead to further develop and mature the new organisational model and standardised delivery models to ensure clients’ scale strategic business requirements remain aligned to our deployment and delivery capability; role will require close working relationship with the Technical Product Owner to ensure our deployed or deployable technical solutions remain capable of delivering our client’s strategic business objectives; role will require open and supportive relationships are fostered with our experienced internal technical resource pools, our (currently four) external technical supply chain partners and other agencies that we interact with to deliver our solutions.
The role would suit someone looking for a new challenge, someone who works well within established frameworks and relationships but is not afraid of promoting new ways of thinking and working, someone who can balance transparency, diplomacy and commercial acumen.
The successful candidate will have been demonstrably capable of creating policies and procedures that assist technical deliveries, have managed a medium sized multi-disciplinary technical team across multiple parallel deliveries, be cognisant of all the notable delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, WAGILE, DevOps). They will be confident leading internal or external governance, be ‘tech-savvy’ rather than ‘technical’. Any experience of public sector estates management, that would be a real advantage.
