Job description

Plessey is an embedded technologies developer at the forefront of the microLED technology for augmented and mixed reality (AR/MR) display applications. Working with our partner Meta, we are passionate about developing innovative products that will change the way people interact with the world around them.


We are looking for a Quality Systems Engineer who is excited to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.


This role will expand our growing team and will focus on change management, structured problem solving, process capability improvements and yield management. The role is initially to be 0800 – 16:30, Monday to Friday.


The role’s responsibilities will include:


  • Managing yield events with internal and external teams.
  • Producing weekly/monthly KPI reports.
  • Facilitating 8D or other structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Facilitating FMEA and other risk management activities.
  • Process and Systems Change management.
  • Conduct continuous product and process quality improvement projects to achieve higher production yield.
  • Assisting/leading with the development of improved procedures, practices, and methods throughout manufacturing.


The successful candidate will be experienced in advanced manufacturing processes or quality systems and will have the following skills:


  • Knowledge of quality methodologies like FMEA, SPC, Six-Sigma, Kaizen and 8D reporting will be an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ideally experience customer facing.
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office 365 – particularly Excel.
  • Statistical data analysis tool experience (JMP/MINITAB/Tibco Spotfire) would be an advantage.
  • Experience in a quality-critical manufacturing environment, microelectronics/medical/automotive/aerospace preferred.
  • Able to work independently, result oriented, organised, and self-motivated.
  • Hold a relevant degree (or vocational equivalent) or appropriate previous experience.
