The Deep Space Network (DSN) Scheduling Group is seeking a Systems Engineer/Deputy to the Team Chief. You will work with the Team Chief on customer support to determine project DSN scheduling interfaces and process requirements and to ensure those requirements are being met. Day to day running of the MRSS team: task assignments of team personnel and monitoring team performance. Coordinate and provide training & certification, promote atmosphere conducive to improving tools & processes. MGSS representative for new mission design, costing, and cross-support. Participate in the hiring process.
Responsibilities also include DSN lead scheduler for one or more missions. This role includes the development and negotiation of the schedule for the DSN resources for multiple flight missions. Specifically, will attend mission-planning meetings to gain understanding of mission requirements and to resolve mission-specific issues. Will integrate knowledge of spacecraft specifics (mechanical, science requirements, telecommunications) with scheduling requirements. Will interact frequently with internal and external mission engineers, scientists and all levels of management to ensure that mission requirements are met. Will communicate final resource allocations with other schedulers as well as mission personnel. Work with scientists and engineers in providing solutions to technical and engineering problems as they relate to DSN scheduling.
R E Q U I R E M E N T S:
- Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field with a minimum of 1 year experience or a Masters degree with 0 years experience.
- In-depth knowledge of IBT, SSS, SPS, CAST tools.
- Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: telecommunications, radio science, DeltaDor analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate with peers
- Ability to prioritize work to meet commitments with high quality products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in mission operations.
- Knowledge of applicable industry and/or academic practices and standards in mission scheduling and sequencing.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise technical judgment.
- Experience in handling the scheduling or resource negotiation process for flight missions.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze flight mission scheduling data.
- Knowledge of Deep Space Network Operations, current resources and future capabilities.
