Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity for an implementation consultant/engineer to join NEC’s Public Safety delivery team initially working on NEC’s Cortex product.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the deployment of ICCS solutions, within a rapidly evolving Emergency Services domain, as new radio comms technologies DCS and ESN are deployed into our customers, new releases of telephony platforms come to market, and NEC Cortex and associated product family is enhanced.
The role will involve extensive remote and on-site building of Cortex solutions into primarily emergency services customers.
The role requires/develops strong capabilities in Windows server and client technology, VM creation and management (primarily ESXi), telephony systems including Avaya AACC7 with CM8/CM10, Cisco Finesse 12.5, emergency services radio communications technology (Tetra, DCS, ESN), SQL Server installation and configuration.
The role will be either home-based or office-based at NEC’s Hull city centre premises.
Responsibilities include:
Become product implementation expert on Cortex ICCS product and other designated NEC products
Install/build base Windows/database infrastructure onto Virtual Machine hardware prior to installation of NEC software
Provide consultancy to build, install and configure NEC Cortex solutions onto customers infrastructure/hardware
Carrying out implementation activities in accordance with the overall project plan and individual work packages.
Internal Project-related activities as directed by the Project manager or Delivery manager, including supporting Development, Client Services, and SQA activities as required
Maintain effective working relationships with customers and NEC colleagues
Liaise with the NEC Project Manager to ensure implementation is to specified scope, is well planned and budgets and timescales are met
Assisting with the scoping and costing of customer solutions as required
Travel in UK and potentially overseas as project needs demand
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Experience required in several of the following
Thorough understanding of all IT management and support
IP addressing
Active directory (AD)
Configuration – Domain / Group Policy
Administration – User and Groups / Permissions
DHCP – Theory / Configuration / Management
DNS – Theory / Configuration / Management
Server 2016/2019 Installation / Configuration / Management / Support (including patching)
Desktop Environments - Windows 7, 8 & 10
Network
Data switches – Theory / Provisioning
Routers – Theory
Cabling – Patching / Testing
AV software – Installation / Management / Policies
SQL – Installation and basic configuration. Use of admin tools.
Desirable skills/experience
MCSA and/or MCSE Certification
MCP Certification
PEN Testing – Preparations and remedial work. Secure and hardening builds.
Experience with deployment methods such as WSUS, WDS and SCCM
PowerShell scripting – basic knowledge plus creation with research.
SQL Server Installation, Administration and scripting of SQL
Virtualisation Technologies
Hypervisor (Hyper-V / ESXi)
Central Management
Automated system builds
Scripting or programming experience
Data migration/manipulation skills
Able to communicate effectively at all levels (written, verbal, presentation)
Maintaining accurate records of work for project documentation and of sufficient quality to allow handovers to customers and support

Experience of Public Safety/Emergency Services sector operations and solutions.

Security Clearance
Either holds or is willing to undertake Security clearance to SC level and NPPV, candidates must be eligible to undergo clearance and have lived in the UK for 5 years or more
