We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role Sustainable Finance Associate.
This role will support the development of analyses and insights to inform management decision making related to HSBC’s ambition to align its financed emissions globally to net-zero outcomes by 2050.
Job summary:
Sustainable Finance Associate will support the Global Head of Sustainable Finance Strategy & Implementation and other senior executives to deliver the Group’s net zero strategy and other sustainability objectives.
The role holder will:
(i) Contribute to analyses to inform and develop the Group’s sustainable finance strategy and activities across global businesses and geographies
(ii) Support projects and initiatives to develop the Group’s capabilities and processes to support the Group’s sustainable finance objectives
(iii) Contribute to developing the Group-wide approach for assessing financed emissions, accounting for variations by industry sectors and possible decarbonisation pathways
(iv) Liaise with other business, sustainability and strategy managers on projects to guarantee high quality deliverables
(v) Organise and synthesise information for presentation to senior executives through both presentation slides and written memos
(vi) Analyse Group performance against strategic sustainability and sustainable finance priorities and targets
(vii) Support clear communication and collaboration to enable alignment between the Group and region and country-level businesses
(viii) Collaborate among Corporate Sustainability, Group Strategy and Planning, Global Businesses and supporting functions as well as senior leadership of the Group by developing high quality working relationships
(ix) Assess and develop business development opportunities related to the transition to a low carbon economy and other sustainability goals
1. Strong research and analysis skills
2. Strong interpersonal communication skills
3. Strong organisational skills including time management / multiple workloads
4. Indication of interest or experience in climate or sustainability (courses, work experience)
5. Self-initiative and clear evidence of ownership in delivering work
Essential criteria:
1. Project/programme management experience
2. Managing multiple stakeholders
3. Ability to structure and synthesise information to inform executive level decision making
Desirable criteria:
1. Technical sustainability background
2. Experience in financial services / commercial awareness (at least 1 year of experience)
3. Strategy development and delivery experience
4. External stakeholder engagement experience
Qualifications
- As above. Related degree is preferable (economics, sustainability related, business, management etc)
- Proficiency in Microsoft is a must.
- Any related sustainability courses is desired but not necessary
